Website Evaluation

For this activity I used the starfall website:
http://www.starfall.com

This activity was very helpful in looking at websites and evaluating them. The questions asked on the evaluation form were very thorough and made me consider the site on a deeper level. Sure, a website might look great and have great navigation, but without credentials it might not always be correct information. Looking for these credentials can really tell you whether or not the website is legitimate. Especially when a website is going to be used in a classroom, it is very important that it be legitimate with true information. Even if all the information is true, a website still might not be appropriate for classroom use. If the navigation is not clear or straightforward or if the site isn't aesthetically pleasing at all, these could also be reasons to find another website for classroom use. Even though the design is less important than the information, it is still a significant factor to consider when evaluating a website. With the starfall website, I found all the information to be accurate, the navigation easy to use, the design wonderful, and the site aesthetically pleasing. I would highly recommend this site for younger kids as well as teachers and parents. I thought this activity helped me see beyond the homepage of a website and see what it was all about.

My Technology Experience

I am just starting to use technology. I hope to learn a lot this semester.
